Momma and Baby

As I reflect on this busy week - full of pictures and work and my first Mother's day - I am reminded of the most important thing for me about being a photographer. It is being able to show relationships. The love in a couple, the play between siblings, the unique connections in a family and the joy of a new life.

I have always had a strong bond with my mother and now that I have a daughter - I am experiencing a whole new kind of love. I can't wait to wake up and see her smiling face. I look forward to bath time. I refer to myself as momma. I now know what all the fuss is about.

We love staring into momma's eyes

and we laugh when she plays.

She  knows how to make us smile

and reads the book over and over

and gives the best kisses.

She couldn't wait for us to get here

and loved us right from the start.

She taught us how to laugh

how to be confidant.

and how to snuggle.

she is our first love.

Lisa's Baby Shower

There is no better way to celebrate the anticipated arrival of a new baby than with a shower for the mom to be! This is a the recent shower of our friend Lisa (whose maternity session I just posted below.)

It was so fun creating things and coming up with ideas for our Woodland/ Owl theme. It was hard to narrow down all of the little projects I had in mind - I do love a good party!

We had a great time "feathering the nest" for Lisa and Bo and we are all so excited to meet the new addition!

We had the baby book "Peek-a-who" as a guest book and we played a "guess how many m+m's are in the bottle" game

There were 78 m+m's in case you were wondering :-)

We had all of the guests come up with a first experience that they were excited for baby Lucas to have. They were all so good - like his first belly laugh or his first bike ride with out training wheels!

Crafting! We all ironed on some fun graphics to create unique onesies for baby Lucas

Colorado Maternity Photography | Coming Soon - Baby Lucas!

This is Bo + Lisa - another couple whose wedding I photographed in 2009! They are good friends so I was really excited to create some memorable images for them. They are expecting baby boy Lucas very soon - I think we squeaked this session in just in time. Congratulations you two - I can't wait to meet little Lucas...

I love the light coming in through the window blinds. I didn't at first - but I changed my mind. 

It looks like rays of sunshine.
